Hermitage School Board takes personnel actions

After conducting an executive session to discuss personnel, the Hermitage School Board voted to take the following actions:

  • Accepted a letter of resignation from Kala Thornton as cheer sponsor
  • Voted to hire Mistie MGhee as cheer sponsor for the remainder of the 2021/22 school year
  • Voted to partially non-renew Lori McDougald’s contract removing her as Cross Country Coach for failing to complete the terms of her contract

All three motions were approved 6-0.

The board approved previous minutes and all financial reports. Dr. Tucker gave her monthly update. She talked about the school calendar, the funding received from the American Rescue Plan, the Cares and ESSER funds and plans to start work on the floors in the front part of the middle school. Also discussed was the COVID-19 status.
The board was told COVID cases are low. Quarantine guidelines were changed to three feet instead of six feet for 15 minutes. The board then voted to make masks optional/encouraged. The vote was 6-0. The use of masks will be reconsidered December 14th. The board requested that staff, students and parents be urged to keep three feet
away from others as much as possible and stay home if they become sick or experience symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Please report any sickness to the school so they can stay on top of cases.

The board then voted to approve the Federal Statement of Assurances and approved the redistricting of board zones. SRC will try to secure specific information on the zone changes.
