HERMITAGE, Ark. – A busy week of Hermitage Hermit senior and junior basketball is in the books as the Hermits get set for the 8-1A District Tournament coming up next week in Bradley in Lafayette County, Arkansas.
- Early in the week the senior Lady Hermits dropped a game to the Bradley Bears 58-28. Coach Collin Wilkerson said however that the Hermit loss came “despite a strong first quarter.” Aislin England scored 13 points for Hermitage.
- The senior Lady Hermits then hit the road at Nevada. Olivia Pierce scored ten as Hermitage fell by the final of 49-26.
- The junior Hermit boys were in action next vs. Strong, taking a decisive 43-29 victory. The junior Hermits move to 14-5 overall and 5-1 in the 8-1A. Oscar Martinez scored 20 for the red and black.
- In the next game vs. Nevada, the Lady Hermits came within six points, falling 38-32. Aislin England led Hermitage in scoring with 16 points, with 4 made threes. England has knocked down an impressive 57 threes on the season. According to Coach Wilkerson, England is just four threes away from the career record at Hermitage, a feat currently held by Cassidy Hollingsworth with 60.
- The senior Hermitage Hermit men dropped the final game of the night to Nevada 72-41. Jorge Ramos led the Hermits on the scoresheet with 16 points. Ramos hit three threes on the night. He also moved into third all-time for three-pointers made at Hermitage. Ramos has recorded 91 made threes in his Hermit career, just four away from breaking the single-season boys record for threes made.
The 8-1A District tournament is set for next week at Bradley High in Lafayette County. Hermitage’s junior girls have earned the three seed and will face Bradley on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
The Hermitage junior boys have earned the number two seed and will play Strong Monday at 6:30 p.m.
The senior Lady Hermits are the seven seed and will take on Bradley Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The Hermitage senior Hermit men are the seven seed and will face Bradley Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
