Wear red to raise awareness of heart disease Wednesday, February 9

WARREN, Ark. – Warren High School will be observing Wednesday, February 9, 2022 as “Wear Red Day,” a nationally celebrated day in which people are invited to wear red to show their support for the awareness of heart disease.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Heart disease was the leading cause of death in the United States in 2020, with 696,962 people losing their life. The observance of “Wear Red Day” is part of American Heart Month.

This year, Warren High School is celebrating “Wear Red Day” in memory of one of its own, Mrs. Beverly Reep, the late longtime history teacher who served the Warren, Hermitage, and Dumas School Districts over her career.

Saline River Chronicle, owned by Beverly’s son Rob, invites not only Warren High Students, but everyone in the Warren community to take part Wednesday by wearing red to raise awareness of heart disease and save more lives. “We are incredibly honored that Warren High School chose to observe ‘Wear Red Day’ in honor of my Mom,” said Rob. “Let’s put on our red, get outside and go for a walk, and start living a healthier life today.”
