Just the sound of the word seems frantic. Yet many today try to live their lives in constant motion, dictated by a long daily to-do list or pursuing random activities. At the end of the day, they feel totally exhausted and dread the next morning when they will get up and start their hectic pace again. They long for some time to themselves for a little peace and quiet.
Luke tells us in chapter 5 and verse 16, “But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”
The Gospels tell us that Jesus felt worn down the the crush of the crowds and the unending demands of those who wanted something from Him. At those times, Jesus would get away by himself and reconnect with His Father for renewal and fellowship.
Like Jesus, we to need to slow down sometimes and spend time reading God’s Word and praying, (talking to Him and listening to Him.
I challenge you to spend some unhurried time in prayer and reading God’s Word. It is in those quiet times with Him the much needed refreshing comes.
