Herring’s stunning free kick not enough as Hamburg scores a trio of second half goals to defeat Lady Jacks

Hamburg nearly opened their account ten minutes in, but the striker’s shot zoomed across the face of the goal wide left.

Warren would get a corner in the seventeenth minute, but it came to nothing.

Three minutes later Hamburg again found a golden opportunity. One-on-one with Lady Jack keeper Valerie Navarro, Hamburg took a point blank shot. Navarro was up to the task however to keep things level at nil-nil.

Warren was on its heels. Then three minutes before halftime the Lady Jacks were awarded a free kick from about 35 yards out due to a Hamburg Lady Lion handball. Warren striker Bailey Herring curled a wonderful effort off of the far post and into the back of the net to give the orange and black a 1-0 lead.

Hamburg returned for the second half of play ready to right the wrongs of the first half’s poor finishing. They found the equalizer just six minutes into the period. Two minutes later they took the lead, and in the seventy-first minute they added a bit of insurance with a third goal.

Warren’s Tessa Andrus nearly pulled a goal back for Warren in the seventy-eight minute, but her effort was denied. At the full-time whistle the Lady Jacks fell 3-2 to the Hamburg Lady Lions.
