Rev. Gary Harrison, pastor of the First United Methodist Church (FUMC), will preach his last sermon in Warren June 5, the first Sunday in June. He has been assigned to the FUMC in Bingen and Nashville, AR, and will begin as pastor there July 1 of this year.
Before coming to Warren in 2014, Rev. Harrison was pastor in Mena, AR, from 2006-2014. He also served in Hamburg from 2003-2006 and was at the UAM Wesley Foundation/
Wilmar charge from June 1994 to 2003. Other churches in which he was pastor were Spring Hill/St. John/Hope, El Dorado, Mineral Springs/Wakefield, and Camden.
Rev. Harrison earned a MDiv degree from Iliff School Theology in Denver, CO, in May 1985. Undergraduate work included a B. A. degree in Recreation and Park Management.
He graduated from Camden High School in May, 1975.
He has received several awards as District Pastor of the Year and Conference Church of the Year during his years as pastor. He has also participated in several continuing education projects, including Connected in Christ.
He is the youngest of three children born to Frank and Geneva Harrison of Camden.
He is married to Lori Smith Harrison; and the Harrisons have three sons: Beau F., Jesse S., and Jack R.
Rev. K. Dixon Platt of Forest City, AR, will begin as pastor of the FUMC here July 1 of this year.
