In 2021 there were more than four hundred thousand children in the United States foster care. Many of those kids were unable to return to their families and were waiting to be adopted. These children spend about three years in foster care before they become eligible for adoption, but they can wait up to ten years for placement. Some are never placed.
Fortunately, no matter what a person’s family situation is here on earth, God promises that those who believe will be adopted into His family.
“To all who believe Him and have accepted Him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
Through belief in Christ, people are adopted into the family of God. Those who were sinful and unworthy are made a part of the royal family. Talk about a rags to riches story. People can’t buy or earn a place in God’s family. They can only accept it as the beautiful gift of God that it is.
