Hermitage City Council Votes to Contract Mowing

In a meeting presided over by City Treasurer Angela Dawson in the absence of Mayor Kendrix, the Hermitage City Council conducted May, 2022 business and made two decisions related to mowing and bush hogging.  After reviewing detailed cost of buying a new lawn mower vs. contracting for the mowing, the council voted to not purchase a mower and contract the work out.  The members then voted to purchase a new bush hog to maintain the sewer pond.  The council believes the city should take care of the ponds in house due to environmental regulations.  The bush hog will be purchased from Lumberjack at a cost of $3723.00.  Bids will go out for the mowing contract.

Reports were given from the police department, public works, animal control and disaster response team.  It was noted that the 2019 and 2020 audits have been completed with no issues to address.

The council was informed that the next Free Farmer’s Market is set for June 2 at 2:00pm.  Also there will be a SALSAFest held June 2 at 2:00pm to be located at 416 South Hickory Street. There will be food trucks, mini golf, craft vendors, salsa cook off, salsa dancing, music, free produce, health screening and more.  The event is open to the public and free!

Information was then presented concerning the Great North American Eclipse to occur Monday, April 8, 2024 around 1:00pm. At that time Arkansas will have at least 94% obscuration of the sun. Plans are underway to encourage tourism in Arkansas during that time.
