Howard Melvin Davis, 69, of Jersey, died July 3, 2022. Born August 16, 1952, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Francis Davis. He attended Hermitage Public School and went on to attend Job Corp in San Diego, California.
He was a faithful employee at Curley Cathey’s, working as a mechanic for over 40 years until he recently retired. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jersey, Arkansas.
In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing grass, working on cars, but most of all spending time with his family. Even though he didn’t say a lot, his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was also preceded in death by five siblings, Ida Lee Avery, Wanda Fields, Ray Davis, Joe Louis Davis, Raymond Davis and a great-grandchild, Jashawn Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Davis; two children, Melvin Lavon Davis (Lisa), Donna Hatchet; three siblings, Larry Davis, Herman Davis (Gloria), Berdie Morris; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held July 16 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Jersey with Rev. Arlin Carson officiating and Bishop Larry Hines eulogist. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
