Summer reading program students, ages 7-12, at the Warren Branch Library recently took a guided tour of the world’s coral reefs with Mrs. Sandy.
“They learned that coral is an animal, not a plant, and that sea creatures use them to hide from both predators and prey,” says Sandy Doss of the Warren Library.
The largest coral reef is the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. It is 1,600 miles long, 20,000-years-old, and can be seen from space. All of the students constructed their very own imaginative coral reef creation. Grow Your Own Coral Reef Take & Makes were available for the kids to take home. Those that didn’t get one are encouraged to come by the Library and pick one up.
“We look forward to seeing this group next week when Laura Rogers with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission will be here for another ‘incredible journey,” says Doss.
