The jury trial began today, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Bradley County Courthouse for Antario Gilbert, the man charged with Capital Murder in the October 2021 shooting death of Shaun Ingram at the car wash at the corner of Central and Martin Streets in Warren.
Gilbert was arrested Saturday, October 16, 2021 by the Warren Police Department and was eventually charged with Capital Murder. The arrest took place the same day as the shooting. According to the Warren Police Department, Corporal Brian Gorman of the Warren PD was “on patrol in the area of Central and Martin when he heard gunshots coming from the area of the car wash.” When the officer pulled into the car wash lot, he apprehended Antario Gilbert of Las Vegas in connection with the shooting. The victim, Shaun Ingram of Warren, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022, the jury was official set. Following lunch, the trial began with Judge Crews Puryear presiding.
An opening statement was made by both prosecuting attorney Frank Spain as well as Gilbert’s defense attorney. Several witnesses were called early on in the afternoon on Tuesday, including several Warren Police Officers, as well as two civilian witnesses.
Multiple video clips have been part of the trail so far, including a street camera and police body-cams.
Although things are always subject to change, the trial is expected to last about one to two more days.
Tuesday afternoon, the State prosecution rested. The trail is set to be back underway Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m.
