Zack Burks, III named to Lumberjack Sports Hall of Fame

Zack Burks, III was recently awarded his plaque for being inducted to the Lumberjack Sports Hall of Fame. Burks was inducted in the class of 2020, but due to COVID was not able to be presented the plaque in a public ceremony. It was presented to his father Zachary Burks Tuesday, August 23 at Rob Reep Studio by Hall of Fame coordinator Gregg Reep.

Zack Burks, III participated by facetime and expressed his gratitude for the honor. He also asked about the progress on the new Lumberjack Arena and indicated he looked forward to seeing it in the future.

Burks was a standout Basketball player for the Lumberjacks and went on to play for the University of Central Arkansas. He was a four-year starter for Warren from 1983 to 1987, being named All-District for two years. He then played for UCA from 1987 to 1991, being named NAIA All-District 1988-1991 and AIC All-District 1988 to 1991. Mr. Burks was part of the All-District Tournament Champions 1990-1991, NAIA National Champions Runners-Up 1991, and was NAIA All-American 1991. He was inducted in the UCA Hall of Fame in 2009. He has coached and been in business since.

Receiving the plaque on his son’s behalf is Zachary Burks, retired Safety Manager for Potlatch and currently a senior member of the Warren City Council.
