Anita Knowles Stuard, age 84, died Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Limestone Valley, Deer, Arkansas, which has been her home for the past 2 years. She was born July 10, 1938, in Bradley County, the youngest daughter of Arthur Knowles and Lucy Ricks Knowles. Anita graduated from the Hermitage school system. She first worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin’s and Harris Grocery Store and then as a dark-room technician at the Monticello newspaper office. Her final twenty-one years of employment were spent at the Drew Central Farm Bureau Office on Main Street. She enjoyed fishing and gardening; after retirement, she and her husband, Don, spent many days fishing together on the lakes and rivers in Southeast Arkansas. They had a beautiful yard and garden at their home in Sumpter.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her siblings, Sarah Martha Knowles, Frances Murray, Claude T. Knowles, Betty Measel and Jimmie Vickers. She is also preceded in death by her son, Donald Glen Stuard.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Donald Richard Stuard, daughter Denice Harper and husband Mark, of Deer, Arkansas, and daughter-in-law, Rose Stuard of Palestine, Texas. Also, surviving are grandsons Matthew Harper and wife, Melissa, of Sanford, North Carolina, and Adam Harper and wife, Heidi, of Georgetown, Texas, and great-grandchildren Emma, Ava, Pierce, Jude, Beckham, Vivian, Oliver, Charlotte, and Luke.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Outlaw Cemetery in Sumpter by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
