Annette Joyce Ridgell, 1943-2022

Annette Joyce Ridgell, 79, of Wilmar, passed away September 17, 2022. Born January 17, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Arton Sr. and Eulelia Ragland.

She attended Wilmar and Drew High Schools in Monticello. She joined Shady Grove AME Church at a young age. After graduating high school, she moved to California. Upon returning to Wilmar several years later, she rejoined her home church and sang soprano in the senior choir.

She was a member of the Soul Seniors Social Club. She served as hospitality director.

She was also preceded in death by her infant twin, Jannette, nine other siblings, Jimmie Fred, Margie, Evelyn, Barbara, Otis, Clemmie C., Warren G., Arton Jr. and Kenneth.

She is survived by her sons, Stephon Ridgell (Charlotte) of Wilmar, Craig Steven Ridgell of Benton; grandchildren, Stephanie, Stefen, Charlayah Ridgell all of Wilmar, Crystal Shepherd of Shreveport, LA, Gary Shepherd of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Jayla Evans, Zyia, Xaiya Ridgell all of Wilmar, Omarian, Tynisha, Tyrihana, Zyion, Zynel, Krystal all of Houston, TX; one sister, Sylvia Shorter of Wilmar; sister-in-law, Bertha Ragland of California and Carol Polk Herman of Wilmar; a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was held October 1 at Wilmar Cemetery in Wilmar with Rev. Janice Corneal officiating. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
