Small wildfire extinguished by County Line rural crews Sunday afternoon

A fire burning in the middle of a forest.

A small grass and underbrush fire broke out about five and half miles north of Warren on Highway 8 towards New Edinburg, Sunday, October 2, 2022 around 2:30 p.m., threatening the local forest.

Crews from the County Line Rural Fire Department responded and seemed to have the fire under control for the most part by 3:00 p.m. Three or fourth operate spots of land were burned on the east side of the road, mainly consisting of underbrush and grass. The fire did come close to pine tree line. No known cause has been reported yet, but the region is suffering through extremely dry conditions at the moment.

Rangers with the Arkansas Forestry Commission were on site as well during the firefighting efforts.
