Helen Cruse Roper, 1929-2022

Helen Cruse Roper, age 93, of White Hall, Arkansas passed away on November 17, 2022. She was born June 29, 1929 in Harrell, Arkansas to Norman and Alice Karriker Cruse. She was married to V.L. Roper on March 10, 1949 for 67 years until his death in 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dorothy Hiatt, brother Frank Cruse, three brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, one nephew, and one niece. 

Helen loved camping and fishing with friends and family. Even if the fish were not biting, she would continue fishing for hours. 

She is survived by her three children, Sharon Place (Jack) of White Hall, Debra Roper of Sheridan, and Gary Roper of White Hall; two grandchildren Andrea Place of Los Angeles, California and Jason Place (Jennifer) of Woodlawn; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie McDaniel (Landon) of Watson Chapel, Chloe Place and Paisley Place of Woodlawn; one great-great-grandchild, Truett McDaniel of Watson Chapel. 

Also surviving her are her sisters, Norma Jean Houpt of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mary Jane Craig of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Charlotte Brockwell of Gonzales, Louisiana; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were 2:00PM Monday, November 21st at Union Grove Cemetery in Calhoun County with Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the Arkansas Hospice Care team for the excellent care for Mrs. Helen Roper.
