Improvement seen as Lady Jacks drop second game of the season

Wrapping up their participation in the Mini State Classics Tournament hosted by Drew Central, the Warren Lady Jacks fell to the Dermott Lady Rams by the final of 63-26 Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2022.

Warren took a very early lead in the first quarter from an Aniyah York basket. Dermott responded well however by sinking six unanswered points by the 5:23 mark to lead the orange and black 6-2. Tessa Andrus knocked down a three a couple of minutes later, but the Ram lead had extended to 10-5.

Paris Wright got in on the action during the second quarter for Warren. She mad a strong move to the interior and banked a shot in from close range. Dermott’s lead continued to grow however. They led by as much as 36-10 with three minutes left in the first half. The Lady Jacks did cut into that lead slightly just before the midway point courtesy of a Cherish Dooley trey.

Andrus hit her second three of the ballgame with six minutes to go in the third period. Moments later Michaela Stanley scored with a nice assist from Dooley.

Wright would add another three late on, but the Lady Jacks suffered their second defeat of the year in the end, losing to Dermott by the final of 63-26.

Warren was led on the scoresheet by Wright and Andrus, each of whom posted seven on the night. Raven Harris and Cherish Dooley each scored three, with Amari Russell, Aniyah York, and Stanley on the board with two-a-piece.

Stanley led the Lady Jacks in rebounds with five. Harris posted three, York and Wright two, and Russell, Dooley, and Taliyah Walton each with one rebound in the game.

Warren’s Lady Jacks move to 0-2 on the year. They will travel to El Dorado Friday, December 9 to take on the Lady Wildcats. There are three games slated for the night. Playing first at 5:00 p.m. will be the seventh-grade girls, followed by the Junior Lady Jacks, with the Warren senior Lady Jacks playing in the final game of the evening.
