Jack basketball teams served bbq meal before Friday’s first home game of the season

A ribs and beans supper was furnished to the Warren High School senior boys’ and girls’ basketball teams on Friday by several community members shortly before the first games in the new Lumberjack Arena.

The event was held in the newly refurbished WHS cafeteria following restoration after a disastrous fire last year.

Presenting the supper were Joel Tolefree, Joey Cathey, Jerry Daniels, Tony Marshall, Mahogany Lewis and Robert Dupree. Tolefree and Daniels served the meal.

Daniels, who is the Warren School Board president, told the athletes that he had refereed basketball games for 28 years. “I’m putting down my whistle after this year,” he said.

“At Warren School District, academics come first, but for the whole child, we need physical enrichment and the basketball program needs public volunteers to help build it,” Tolefree said.
