Local officials sworn in to start new terms in 2023

Bradley County, Warren and Hermitage officials were sworn in on New Year’s Day at the Bradley County Courthouse.

New mayors Gregg Reep of Warren and Matt Cathey of Hermitage were sworn in. Banks Mayor Keeton Hudson was not present.

Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney said, “When you sign up for one of these jobs, you don’t know what you have until you get there.” He was the first one sworn in by District Judge Bruce Anderson, with McKinney’s wife, LaWanda, holding the Bible.

Several officials were not present and will be sworn in later either by a judge or justice of the peace.

A brief Quorum Court meeting was held immediately following the ceremony, with dates set for 2023 monthly meetings. The Quorum Court will meet at 6 p.m. on the third Monday, except for January and February which have federal holidays and those meetings will be held on the third Tuesday.

The justices waived their monthly fees for the special meeting.
