Boil order issued and state of emergency declared for the town of Banks

Around 10:30 a.m. the local government of Banks announced a boil order issued until further notice due to the power outage. Then, around 11:00 a.m., Banks Mayor Keeton Hudson announced a state of emergency declaration for the community of Banks.

I have issued a state of emergency declaration in the Town of Banks, due to no power, water and frigid temperatures. I just left Ouachita Electric’s office in Hampton and there is no ETA on power restoration. They have 5,000 + customers out and additional power crews on the way to help assist. We will be opening City Hall for a warming station for any of those in need of heat!

Mayor Keeton Hudson

We expect the water to be depleted shortly with no power. We will be out until power is restored and a boil order has been issued as of now.(10:30 a.m. CST) We apologize for the inconvenience and will update accordingly!
