Lady Jack Softball team dealt opening day defeat by Dumas

WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lady Jack’s opened the 2023 season by hosting the Lady Bobcats of Dumas, falling by a 9-1 final at home at the Warren Baseball/Softball Complex.

Dumas put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Warren picked up one run in the bottom half. Ember Johnson walked to lead off the inning and had a stolen base. Paige Byrd followed with a single.

Dumas picked up two more runs in the second. In the bottom of the second inning Hannah Taulbee walked to lead off. Alisha Calbert had a one-out double. However, the Lady Jacks were unable to score any runs. Dumas led 4-1 after two innings.

Warren held Dumas scoreless in the third. Warren went three up and three down.

The Dumas bats came alive scoring five runs in the top of the fourth. Kailey Henry and Hannah Taulbee each singled to lead off the bottom half. Once again the Lady Jacks left both runners stranded.

Neither team mounted any offense in the fifth and sixth innings as Warren lost 9-1.

Hannah Taulbee pitched a complete game striking out four.

Lady Jack first baseman Kailey Henry was named the Lady Jack Player of the Game.

The Lady Jacks will next play host to Camden Fairwiew Monday, March 6 with a starting time of 5:00 p.m.
