Street Committee hears report on potholes and paving

Warren’s Street Committee was unable to transact any business Thursday as it lacked a quorum but some discussions were held with Street Superintendent Monty Hearnsberger.

Chairwoman Emily Moseley was present along with Hearnsberger, Mayor Gregg Reep and Adminstrative Assistant Charlotte Tenner-Brown. Alderwoman Latanza Atkins and Alderman Joel Tolefree were not present.

Hearnsberger said that on Wednesday, his department worked on patching potholes on Maple Street. He said erosion had gotten worse on the street. He said a ditch will be dug out, lined with rock and concrete poured on top of it. After that is done, asphalt can be laid on the street.

Reep said the committee needs to determine which streets it would recommend to be paved. Hearnsberger will also make recommendations on paving.

The committee will also look at raising costs of making cuts in streets.

The next committee meeting will be at 5 p.m. Feb. 21.
