Warren, Arkansas – It was a tough night for the Warren Lady Jacks Soccer Club as they fell to the visiting Star City Lady Bulldogs, 3-0, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. The game, played at Jim Hurley, Jr Stadium, saw both teams struggling to establish possession in the opening minutes of the match.
The first real chance of the game came in the 5th minute, when Star City was awarded a free-kick from 30 yards out. However, Warren goalkeeper Valeria Navarro was up to the task, making a great save to keep the game scoreless.

The Lady Jacks had a chance of their own in the 7th minute when Angie Cortes cut in from the left wing, but her shot was blocked by a Star City defender. Azul Garcia had a great opportunity in the 10th minute, but her shot from the left wing went left of the target.
Star City had a chance in the 22nd minute, but it was Navarro again who made the save to keep the game level. Garcia had another opportunity in the 33rd minute, but her shot was saved by the Star City goalkeeper.
At halftime, the score remained 0-0, but Star City came out strong in the second half. In the 48th minute, they scored the first goal of the game with a breakaway shot high and right of Navarro. Warren tried to mount a comeback, but in the 55th minute, Star City scored again with a low shot that snuck past Navarro to make it 2-0.
Navarro continued to keep the Lady Jacks in the game with a diving save to her left in the 63rd minute, but in the 79th minute, Warren scored an own goal, putting the game out of reach for the Lady Jacks.
While the result didn’t turn out the way Warren had hoped, there were still some positives to take away. Anna Arroyo had an impressive day. She worked hard at both ends of the pitch, and was a central figure in a couple of Warren’s early first half chances. She was named the Que Lindo Michoacan Lady of the Match.
With the loss, the Lady Jacks fall to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the 4A East Conference. Their next game is on the road at Crossett on Thursday, March 30, with kickoff at 5:00 pm. The Lady Jacks will be looking to bounce back and get back to winning ways.
