STAR CITY, Ark. – The Lady Jack softball team traveled to Star City to tangle with the Lady Dogs Wednesday evening, March 15. This is the Lady Jacks’ third game in as many days and their first road game.
Lady Jack shortstop Ember Johnson led off the game with a single. However, the Lady Jacks were not able to capitalize. In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Dogs sent 14 players to the plate and scored nine runs.

In the top of the second, Charlie Wardlaw and Hannah Taulbee each singled, but they were left stranded. Star City went quietly in the bottom of the inning. The score remained 9-0 with Star City leading.
With one out in the top of the third, Paige Byrd singled and Kailey Henry walked. Warren was unable to move the runners.
The Lady Dogs used some timely hitting and picked up four more runs. After three innings, the Lady Dogs led 13-0.
In the top of the fourth, Bracy Bickers reached base on an error, but once again Warren left her stranded. The Lady Dogs picked up a run on a solo homer.
Trailing 14-0 to start the fifth, Ember Johnson doubled. Kailey Henry legged out a single. With two runners on, catcher Charlie Wardlaw unloaded a three-run bomb to get the Lady Jacks on the board. That was as close as the Lady Jacks could get.
Star City defeated the Warren 14-4.
For the Lady Jacks, Charlie Wardlaw went 2-for-3 with a single and a three-run home run. This was her second home run of the season. She was named the Greg Harton Shelter Insurance Player of the Game.
Ember Johnson went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, and scored a run. Kailey Henry and Hannah Taulbee went 1-for-2 and each scored a run. Paige Byrd went 1-for-3 on the evening.
The Lady Jacks return to play following spring break on Tuesday, March 28 at Hamburg.
