WARREN, Ark. – Mayor Gregg Reep issued a proclamation Wednesday at the Bradley County Courthouse, declaring April 2023 as “Child Abuse Prevention Month”.
Close to 5,000 children in Arkansas are reported as abused or neglected every year. The proclamation emphasizes that communities must make every effort to promote programs that benefit children and their families, and effective child abuse awareness and prevention programs succeed because of partnerships among agencies, schools, religious organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community.
Several community leaders were present at the proclamation ceremony, including Kim Akers of Children’s Advocacy Center of South Arkansas, Amber Westmoreland, Adrienne Richardson, DeVonda Brown, and Carolyn Ann Smith, Community Outreach Coordinator with the Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office. The ceremony was held at the Bradley County Courthouse in Warren, Arkansas.
