Arbor Day celebration held Friday in Warren

WARREN, Ark. – On Friday, April 28, the Warren Woman’s Club hosted the Arbor Day celebration at the First Baptist Church of Warren. The event was aimed at promoting the importance of trees in our daily lives.

Arbor Day has a long history dating back to 1872 when J. Sterling Morton first proposed the idea of setting aside a day for tree planting. Since then, the day has been celebrated by individuals and organizations all over the world as a way of recognizing the vital role that trees play in our environment.

The event in Warren was no exception, as participants came out to plant a tree and engage in various other activities that centered around trees. The Warren JROTC presented the colors, and Judge Klay McKinney delivered a speech highlighting the importance of preserving our natural resources. Mayor Reep also issued a proclamation, underscoring the significance of Arbor Day.

The First Baptist Church Christian School children added their voices to the event by singing, making the celebration even more vibrant. In addition, the Arkansas Forestry Commission planted a tree to commemorate the day and to remind everyone of the value of trees in our community.

Arbor Day serves as a reminder of the crucial role that trees play in our environment and the need to preserve them. This event in Warren was a testament to this fact and a call to action for everyone to play their part in safeguarding our natural resources.
