Lady Jacks host Hamburg for senior night on the softball diamond

On Monday evening, the Lady Jacks celebrated Senior Night as they played their last home game against the Hamburg Lady Lions on April 24th.

In the top of the 1st inning, Hamburg scored two runs and left the bases loaded due to the Lady Jacks’ excellent defense. With one out, Lady Jacks’ pitcher, Ember Johnson, doubled, and Charlee Wardlaw followed with an RBI double. After the first inning, Hamburg led 2-1.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Hamburg added two more runs. Warren went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Hamburg scored four more runs in the top of the 3rd inning. With two outs, Lady Jacks’ shortstop, Paige Byrd, hustled for a double. Ember Johnson followed with a single. Unfortunately, the Lady Jacks left them stranded.

The Lady Lions added nine runs in the top of the 4th inning. The Lady Jacks went down swinging in the bottom of the 4th inning.

The Lady Jacks lost to Hamburg with a score of 17-1.

Paige Byrd, Charlee Wardlaw, and Ember Johnson all had doubles on the night. Ember Johnson scored a run, and Charlee Wardlaw had an RBI.

The Lady Jacks’ season will finish on Tuesday, April 25th, at Watson Chapel.


Seniors Sparkle on the Diamond

Lady Jack Softball celebrated their seniors Monday, April 24th at their final home game of the season. 

#23 Felicity Crockett was escorted by her mother, Latoya Belcher. Felicity has been a member of the Lady Jack Softball team for two years and the Lady Jack Basketball team for one year. During her time at WHS she has been an active member of FBLA, JROTC, and Junior Rotarian. She will attend Louisiana Tech in the fall and plans to major in either mechanical engineering or civil engineering. We wish Felicity the best of luck in her future endeavors!

#44 Kailey Henry was escorted by her parents Dewayne and Sherri Henry. Kailey has played Lady Jack softball for four years. She has been a member of the tennis team for three years, and threw shotput for the Lady Jack Track team her freshman year. During her time at WHS, she has been an active part of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Junior Rotarian. She currently serves as co-president of the WHS Advanced Choir. She will attend Louisiana Tech in the fall, majoring in biology. Good luck, Kailey!
