WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lady Jack Soccer Club faced off against Monticello for the second time this season Tuesday night, April 26, 2023, coming away with a 1-0 victory at home at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium.
Tuesday’s game was a non-conference friendly with no implications on the playoffs. It was a chance for the Lady Jacks to get a good workout in ahead of what looks to be a likely State Playoff birth come the end of the year.

The first half was quiet. Warren did manage a few opportunities in the opening minutes. Striker Azul Garcia was once again the most obvious threat, playing through the middle and occasionally shifting out wide left. Anna Arroyo was also a highlight for Warren in the first half. Although the score remained 0-0 through halftime, the feeling remained that Warren was on top.
The breakthrough came in the 58th minute from a Warren corner after a period of sustained pressure. Angie Cortes whipped a good corner kick into the six-yard box. Monticello was unable to clear, and Garcia dispatched a shot into the net, beating the keeper to her right. That would be the only goal of the match as Warren took the friendly 1-0 over their rivals from across the Saline.
The Lady Jacks now sit at 6-5 overall. Since this was a friendly and did not count towards the conference record, the Lady Jacks remain at 4-3 in the 4A East.
