Mary Louise Hampton, 1948-2023

Mary Louise Hampton ‘Lou’, 75, of Johnsville, passed away, May 26, 2023. Born March 6, 1948, she was a daughter of the late George Ed and Georgia Mae Hampton.  She was a graduate of Hermitage High School. After high school she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived and was employed with Industrial Garment Service for 20 years. She moved back home in 1988. She joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Secretary and a member of the choir. She served faithfully until her health failed. She loved to sew.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Marvin Hampton; two brothers and two sisters.

Mary is survived by her sons, Greg Hampton of Warren, LeFunga Hampton (Tamara) of Johnsville; Siblings, Cleola Wheeler of Chicago, IL., Barbara Harvey (Otis), Wanda Jamison (Arthur) both of Warren, Milton Hampton (Hazel) of Johnsville; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Hampton of Hermitage; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was June 3 at Hampton Chapel AME Church in Johnsville. Burial was in Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery, Johnsville.  Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
