With a resignation accepted Monday night by Warren School Board, the district is without an instrumental music department director for the first time in several years.
Last month, Warren High School band director Kevin Dunn resigned to take a position in McGehee. On Monday, beginning and junior high band director Bobby Hagler resigned. Superintendent Bryan Cornish admitted it will be difficult to find replacements.

In another move, the board decided to change its meeting dates starting in July to the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The School Board meetings had been set on the second Monday, which is the same day Warren City Council meets. Although the meetings were set at different starting times, they sometimes overlapped, with Joel Tolefree sitting on both groups.
In other action:
- Approval was given to electronic transfer of funds.
- School Choice students both leaving and entering the district were approved.
- Handbook changes were approved.
- Cornish and Treasurer Denecia Sellers were approved as ex-officio officers.
- Approval was given to the 2023-24 ABC grant, allowing 115 slots in the preschool.
- Approval was given to Arkansas School Boards Association model policies.
- Approval was given to the purchase of $205,000 worth of furniture through VIRCO as provided by the district’s fire insurance.
- Approval was given to PC Hardware to update school door locks for $22,602.
- Cornish said the new Warren Elementary School has a long punch list on construction before the building is ready. He said an open house will be held once the parking lot is ready.
- Warren High School reconstruction is nearly complete and furniture will be moved in during the first week in August. Teachers will return to the building in the second week of August. Some exterior work remains to be done.
- Cornish said there were 44 accusations of bullying during the past school year. Four cases were verified, with action taken, including some expulsions.
- Mainline Health Systems will be establishing on-campus health clinics at Warren Elementary School and SEACBEC.
- Brunson Elementary Principal Regina Scroggins attended her last board meeting before retirement. Cornish thanked her for her service.
