WARREN, Ark. – After a temporary pause due to safety concerns of the building to the north, demolition crews have once again begun their work on the old Bryant’s Furniture building located on Main Street in Warren. The demolition process had come to a halt a few weeks ago so that crews could bring in an engineer to take a closer look at a previously developed crack in the south wall of the church building just to the north and adjacent to the former Bryant’s store.

On Monday, an inspector visited the site to assess the situation and determine whether it was safe to continue with the demolition. After careful examination, the inspector gave the green light to resume the work and informed the City that the north wall could be taken down by hand.
Thursday morning saw the crews back in action, diligently working to remove the brick north wall. Two experts equipped with safety harnesses were strategically positioned to carefully dismantle the structure layer by layer. The painstaking process ensures the safety of both the workers and the surrounding buildings.
While the demolition is progressing, the inspector is expected to provide a final report to the City regarding the state of the church building situated to the north. At present, there is no update on the condition of the neighboring structure.
This marks the second major demolition project to take place in downtown Warren in recent weeks. Prior to the work on the old Bryant’s Furniture building, the county successfully completed the demolition of the block located to the south of the Court Square. The open space created by that demolition was temporarily utilized to host food trucks during the 2023 Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival.
As the demolition of the old Bryant’s Furniture building progresses, Warren’s Main Street undergoes transformation once again. The removal of these structures paves the way for future development and revitalization efforts in the heart of the city.
