HERMITAGE, Ark. – A log truck fire on Highway 63, approximately a mile south of Hermitage, caused traffic to grind to a halt late Monday afternoon. The Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene, effectively managing the blaze and ensuring public safety.
Nine dedicated firefighters from the Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene and worked diligently to bring the situation under control. Fortunately, their prompt response ensured that the fire was contained and extinguished by 5:24 pm, minimizing potential hazards and traffic disruptions.
Authorities investigating the incident revealed that the fire originated from a blown tire on the log truck. The resulting heat and friction between the rim and the frame were the catalysts for the ignition that led to the blaze.
Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies were also on hand to assist in managing traffic flow and ensured the safety of both motorists and emergency responders.
Traffic on Highway 63 was slowed during the incident.
