Friends and classmates from the WHS Class of 1968 gathered from near and far during the Pink Tomato Festival on June 9-10 for their 55th High School Reunion. It was purposefully planned to be an informal time of visiting, reminiscing, and being back home with lifelong friends—No Fuss, No Frills.
In addition to enjoying the events of the weekend festival, the group met at The Train Depot on Saturday afternoon for fun, food, and fellowship. A large grouping of memorabilia was displayed along with the Senior Class picture which hung in the hallowed halls of WHS until the new school was built. Leading the group in a Memorial Moment for deceased classmates was Melissa Miles Gardner, assisted by Debbie Williams Green. Melissa led everyone in prayer and read the names of all who have passed away as Debbie rang a handbell for each classmate.
Melissa graced the group with a beautiful song in their memories.
Special guests for the event were teachers, Mr. Billy Joe (Cotton) Watson and Mrs. Avis Harrelson. Approximately twenty-five classmates along with many spouses attended. A grand time was had by all and emphasized the point that old friendships are the best friendships. The No Fuss, No Frills event proved to be just the right setting for this 55th reunion of beautiful, handsome, talented, smart, athletic individuals who will forever love each other.
