Blowin’ Smoke BBQ a sweet and savory addition to Warren’s food truck scene

Editor’s note: The pandemic especially hit the restaurant business hard, as many places had to close or place extra restrictions on their customers. Local eateries are beginning to show a resurgence and Saline River Chronicle wishes to salute them with this series of stories.

Blowin’ Smoke BBQ is perhaps the newest entry in a growing trend of bringing portable food trucks into Warren.

Blake Huitt said he started the food truck in July after he got laid off from another job. “I’ve been wanting to start this for years,†he said.

He bought the truck in South Texas and now brings it to the lot next to E&M Tire in Warren on Fridays from 11 a.m. until he sells out. He is also open at Hermitage City Hall on Wednesdays under the same hours and in Hampton in the evening on certain days. He will be present at the Bradley County Fair Sept. 6-9 and may add other towns soon.

Blowin’ Smoke BBQ offers smoked sausage, pulled pork, ribs, brisket and nachos.

“Me and my brother, Matt Huitt, taught ourselves how to cook,†Huitt said. He starts cooking at 8 p.m. and continues until the next day.

He won the state Wild Hogs BBQ contest in 2017.

His daughters, Stella and Abby Huitt, helped with the food truck before school started. His mother, Debbie Driggers, is helping now.
