The diagnostic tests were given during the first month of school to determine where students placed in their respective grade levels. Three tiers of results were formulating, showing if the students were currently at grade level on skills, where they need to be at the end of the school year and if they were perceived to be at risk.
Further testing will be done in January and at the end of the school year to determine if the students show any improvement or where certain skills should be targeted.
Board member Joel Tolefree indicated that he felt any students who are shown to be behind in their skills would need extra resources to help them catch up to the same level as their peers.
