Lumberjack Tennis takes five matches vs. Magnolia on the road Thursday

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjack Tennis Team journeyed to Southern Arkansas University on Thursday, September 7, 2023, and faced off against the formidable Magnolia High tennis squad. It was a day of intense competition and remarkable performances.

The Jacks secured victories in a number of various matches. Here are some of the standout performances of day:

Anna Grace Mitchell set the tone with a resounding victory in her exhibition singles match, defeating her opponent with a scoreline of 6-2.

Victoria O’Neill and Anna Arroyo formed a formidable duo in their ranked doubles match, where they initially secured a 6-3 victory. O’Neill and Arroyo continued their dominant performance into a second set, clinching a 6-1 win.

In another exhibition doubles match, Ryann Turner and Natalee Harmon demonstrated their exceptional coordination and chemistry as they triumphed with a score of 6-2.

Jaycee Courtney and Alley Vance(both 8th graders) won 6-0 in their exhibition double match. 

Courtney also won an exhibition singles match 6-0.

Saline River Chronicle Players of the Day honors go to Anna Arroyo and Victoria O’Neill. Coach Micah Richey said afterwards that the pair “started off rough and overcame their frustration to get the victory.” “Their second set they improved greatly and refined a lot of their mistakes from the first set,” he said.
