Lumberjack Tennis triumphs at Hamburg; Braylen Watson named SRC Player of the Day

HAMBURG, Ark. – In a closely contested match at Hamburg on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, the Warren Lumberjack Tennis Team showcased their mettle, with a standout performance from Braylen Watson. With a 3:30 match start time, the Lumberjacks took to the court.

The standout moment of the day belonged to Braylen Watson, who managed to secure victory in his ranked match via a tiebreaker in extra games. Watson’s comeback from being down 5-2 was nothing short of remarkable as he clawed his way back to level the score at 8-8, eventually securing the win in the tiebreaker. For his outstanding performance, Watson earned the well-deserved title of Saline River Chronicle Player of the Day. Head Tennis Coach Micah Richey had nothing but praise for Braylen, stating, “Braylen showed off how in shape he was in the match that lasted nearly an hour and a half for his game alone. His determination to not quit was incredible to watch!”

In doubles action, Jaycee Courtney and Blayne Jarvis maintained the momentum for the Lumberjacks, securing a 6-3 victory in their match. Their solid teamwork and strategic play contributed to the overall success of the team.

Additionally, Victoria O’neil and Anna Arroyo delivered a dominant performance in their exhibition match, winning convincingly with a score of 6-1.

Looking ahead, the Warren Lumberjack Tennis Team is set to face Magnolia in their next conference match, scheduled for Thursday at SAU.
