Rotarian Dana Harvey then introduced her program of Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney. The county judge spoke mostly about the new Emergency Response building being built. He gave updates on the project and also had some plans to show the group. Judge McKinney stated the building is for the entire county. It has enough area to hold events for up to 300 people and has a kitchen, conference room, and bathrooms with showers. Additionally, it has a covered area for enough space for two cars to serve as a drive-thru. The building can be used for different events, a shelter during catastrophic weather events, a command center for different emergencies, and a way to distribute goods, healthcare, and other necessities in the drive-thru area. Plans are to utilize the structure as a voting location and McKinney is hopeful it will be ready in time for the 2024 elections. The judge gave a brief update on the space where buildings were torn down across from the courthouse and asked for citizens to fill out the short survey to get input on what to do with that area. He ended his presentation by answering a few questions. The Rotary Club of Warren will not meet for the next two weeks, so the next scheduled meeting is Nov. 28. If you are interested in finding out what Rotary is about, we’d love to have you at a meeting.
