Lettie (Peggy) Williams Abernathy, 1928-2023

Lettie (Peggy) Williams Abernathy, age 95 of El Dorado, AR died December 15, 2023 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center under the care of Affinity Hospice. She was born on April 3, 1928 in Vick, AR to the late Claude Smith and Jewel Sharp Smith. She was a life long member of Springhill Freewill Baptist Church, but at the present time she attended El Dorado First Assembly of God Church. She worked hard her whole life. She was known for her great cooking skills especially her fried pies and pot roast. She cooked many meals for preachers and other visitors. She was the cook for Springhill Deer Club for 18 years.

She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Thurman Williams who died in 1995 and Bill Abernathy who died in 2018; brothers, Ronald Smith and Billy Joe Smith and sister, Varnice Johnson.

She is survived by daughters, Margaret Beasley (Hugh Allen) of Sumpter, AR, Carolyn Cook (Robert) of El Dorado, AR and Janet Taylor (Kevin) of Pine Bluff, AR. She is also survived by grandchildren, Keena Eddington Holt (Ted), Jonathan Beasley (CJ), Kalee Cook, Meagan Matthews, Kevin Michael Taylor, Matt Taylor (Katie), great-grandchildren, Bradley Eddington, Ascher Cole, Eli Beasley, Caroline Taylor, Korbin Taylor, and Brooks Taylor and sister, Betty Miller of El Dorado, AR.

Most importantly, her family and friends can find comfort and peace in knowing she was secure in her faith and ready to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral service was held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Frazer’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Childs Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home
