Arkansas comes up short Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – Arkansas battled its way to get to within three points on three occasions in the second half but a Silas DeMary Jr., 3-pointer with 1:03 left put Georgia up eight before closing out the Razorbacks for a 76-66 victory Wednesday night at Stegman Coliseum.

Arkansas only scored 24 first-half points but rallied with 42 in the second half thanks to 18 points from Tramon Mark in the period. Mark finished with 24 points, going 10-of-10 at the free throw line, while leading the team in rebounds (7), assists (3), steals (3) and blocked shots (3).

The team stats were even for the most part. Georgia was 25-of-60 from the field compared to Arkansas 24-of-60 and both teams attempted 22 free throws, Georgia making 17 and Arkansas 15. However, Georgia was 9-of—27 from 3-point range and Arkansas was just 3-of-21.

Georgia was led by Justin Hill’s 19 points off the bench. Noah Thomasson added 15 and RJ Melendez had 10.

Davonte Davis, Trevon Brazile and Makhi Mitchell each had six rebounds. Davis and Khalif Battle contributed three assists with Mark and Mitchell tied Mark with three blocked shots.

Arkansas had six blocked shots in the first half but was just 1-of-6 from 3-point range and trailed, 34-24, at the break.

Arkansas stays on the road to play at Florida on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 4:00 pm (ET)/3:00 pm (CT) on ESPN.
