MONTICELLO, Ark. – In a riveting 4A East Conference match on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Monticello, Arkansas, the Warren Lady Jacks faced off against Monticello in a clash that would determine crucial seeding for the upcoming 4A State Soccer Tournament. The Jacks entered the game with an overall record of 6-5 and a conference standing of 4-2.

The first half saw Monticello asserting early possession, keeping Warren’s defense on their toes. Allison Mondragon had a chance in the 9th minute but narrowly missed the target. Monticello broke the deadlock with a long-range strike in the 24th minute, only for Mondragon to swiftly equalize from a corner kick, showcasing her precision at the near post in the 29th minute. Warren’s defense remained resolute, thwarting Monticello’s attempts to capitalize with balls over the top.

At halftime, the score stood at 1-1, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Monticello surged ahead again with a curling shot in the 51st minute, but Warren’s goalkeeper, Allie Adair, made a crucial save in the 65th minute to keep her team in contention. The game hung in the balance until Angie Cortes’ right-footed strike from a corner leveled the score once more in the 74th minute. The decisive moment came in the 77th minute when Aria Hunt capitalized on a well-executed play initiated by Cortes and orchestrated by Jennifer Carpenter, securing a 3-2 lead for Warren.
