The following is a press release from County’s Property Planning Committee:
The Property Planning Committee (PPC), which was designed to coordinate the efforts to repurpose the property(south of the Courthouse square) purchased by the County in 2023, met on April 3, 2024 to confer with Glenn Lockeby and Ken King of Lockeby and Associates, Inc. to discuss the results of the amenities survey recently conducted by the EAST lab students participating on the committee. The focus of the discussion was the development of preliminary layout drawings for the future infrastructure to be located on the lot once occupied by the condemned buildings south of the courthouse. The majority of participants in the survey expressed the desire for an entertainment venue to be constructed with permanent amenities such as a stage, shade, and seating. The new space will serve multiple purposes and the intent is for the space to be utilized throughout the year and not just during the Pink Tomato Festival.

The PPC began meeting during the summer of 2023 and were joined by the East Lab students in September of 2023.
