Track and Field Lady Jacks win 2024 8-4A District Championship

The Warren Lady Jacks track and field team showcased their dominance yet again as they were crowned the 2024 District Champions for the second year in a row. The meet, held recently, saw the Lady Jacks’ outstanding performances across various events, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the state.

Highlights of the Meet:

  • Shot Put: Zoe Tullos secured 3rd place, while Aniyah York claimed 7th.
  • 4×800 M. Relay: The team consisting of Azual Garcia, Mattie West, Krystal Walton, and McKinleigh Meeks clinched the 1st position.
  • 1600 M. Run: Azul Garcia took 1st place, followed by McKinleigh Meeks in 4th, Sarah Villeda in 6th, and Ashley Rodriguez in 7th.
  • 800 M. Run: Azul Garcia continued her winning streak with 1st place, accompanied by Mattie West in 2nd, Krystal Walton in 3rd, and McKinleigh Meeks in 5th.
  • Discus Throw: Zoe Tullos secured 8th place.
  • 100/110 Hurdles: Amari Russell displayed her prowess with a 2nd-place finish.
  • 400 M. Relay: Ember Johnson, Aria Hunt, Taliyah Walton, and Aaliyah Walton combined their efforts to secure 3rd place.
  • 200 M. Dash: Paige Byrd, Destiny Rogers, Taliyah Walton, and Aaliyah Walton showcased their speed with notable finishes.
  • Long Jump: Aaliyah Walton leaped to 4th place.
  • 100 M. Dash: Aaliyah Walton and Destiny Rogers showcased their speed with top finishes.
  • 400 M. Dash: Krystal Walton sprinted to victory, claiming 1st place.
  • 3200 M. Run: McKinleigh Meeks and Sarah Villeda displayed endurance with their top finishes.
  • High Jump: Destiny Rogers soared to 5th place.
  • 4×200 M. Relay: Ember Johnson, Paige Byrd, Taliyah Walton, and Aaliyah Walton secured 3rd place.
  • 300 M. Hurdles: Paige Byrd showcased her agility with a 2nd-place finish.
  • 1600 M. Relay: Azul Garcia, Aria Hunt, Ember Johnson, and Destiny Rogers secured 2nd place.

The team is led by head coach Janice Reddick.

With such stellar performances, a number of these talented athletes will advance to compete at the State Track meet in Pocahontas on Tuesday, April 30, carrying the hopes and expectations of the Warren Lady Jacks and their supporters.
