Warren concludes the regular season with a 14-6 overall record and 8-4 mark in 4A-8 games to secure the second seed in the 4A South Regional Tournament set to begin Thursday, May 2 in Nashville. The Lumberjacks are scheduled to take on De Queen, the third seed from the 4A-7 Conference, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Today’s game was a resumption of a game that had a scoreless first inning at Stuttgart on April 8, but was postponed to today due to inclement weather. The Lumberjacks loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the third and scored the first run of the game when Jackson Denton drew a bases-loaded walk. However, a strikeout, fielder’s choice, and line out kept the score at 1-0.

The Ricebirds would then score all four of their runs in the fourth inning as the first five batters reached bases, including a pair of doubles. The first out of the inning was produced as they squeezed a runner home on a bunt to set the score at 4-1.

The Orange and Black mounted a small rally in the sixth inning when AJ Jordan and Ren Reep recorded back-to-back one-out singles. Jordan stole third base and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jude Cathey to put Warren within 4-2. A groundout ended the threat and the Jacks were retired in order in the top of the seventh to drop a 4-2 decision to Stuttgart.

Kolby Pope led the team with two hits, while Denton and Cathey drove in the two runs for the Jacks. Ervin Rivera tossed three plus innings and allowed four runs on four hits with four strikeouts against one walk. Pope pitched three scoreless innings in relief and allowed three hits with two punchouts and one walk.
