Saline River Chronicle is sharing a bit of news from one of Warren’s 8-4A neighboring school districts, Star City, because it involves a former Lumberjack. Chris Norton, who has just been named the new head football coach at Star City, is a 2006 graduate of Warren High and was a highly productive offensive lineman for the Jacks.

STAR CITY, Ark. – Monday, May 6, 2024, the Star City School Board voted, in a special called board meeting, and approved the hiring of Coach Chris Norton for the Head Football Coach position.
Norton has spent the last twelve years as a head football coach for various schools, including his most recent position in Lonoke, where he had a dual role as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. Chris led the Jackrabbits to the 4-A State Playoffs the last two seasons and before that led 3-A Perryville to three State Playoff appearances. He is also a two-time conference Coach of the Year selection in 2016 and 2021.
When asked about leading the Bulldogs, Norton said “It is an honor to be selected as the new Head Football Coach at Star City High School. I am grateful to Mr. Frizzell, Mr. Raley and our school board for their trust to lead this program forward.”
“There is a lot of pride in Star City Bulldog football, as some outstanding players, teams and coaches have represented this program through the years. We are going to work tirelessly to continue adding exciting chapters to that history.”

Coach Norton will step into his new role Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
