LITTLE ROCK – Thursday, May 9, 2024 in Little Rock the Warren Lady Jacks faced off against the Brookland High soccer team in the first round of the 4A State Soccer Tournament, falling to the Lady Bearcats by the final of 6-1 to end the orange and black’s 2024 season.

The first half saw Brookland seizing control as they opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a clinical shot, exploiting a gap in the Warren defense. Warren’s troubles escalated when an unfortunate own goal in the 11th minute widened the gap to 2-0 in favor of Brookland. The Brookland squad continued their onslaught, netting two more goals in quick succession in the 22nd and 23rd minutes, showcasing their offensive danger down the right wing.
Despite Warren’s efforts, including energetic sprints by Allison Mondragon and Jennifer Carpenter into the box, Brookland added two more goals in the 24th and 31st minutes, taking a commanding 6-0 lead as the halftime whistle blew.
The 2nd half saw a change in tempo with the implementation of the sportsmanship rule, reducing the time to 20 minutes rather than the typical 40-minute half. In the dying moments of the game, Warren’s Anna Arroyo capitalized on a corner, scoring a consolation goal in the final seconds for the Lady Jacks.
The final score stood at Brookland 6, Warren 1, marking the end of the Warren Lady Jacks’ 2024 season. Despite the defeat, the Lady Jacks displayed resilience throughout the season, finishing with a commendable 7-6 overall record and securing a third-place finish in the 4A East Conference. With a young team brimming with talent, the future holds promise for the Warren Lady Jacks as they look forward to the next season.
