South Arkansas Arts Center reveals exciting theatrical lineup for 2024-2025 season

EL DORADO, Ark. – The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) in El Dorado has unveiled its highly anticipated lineup of theatrical productions for the upcoming 2024-2025 season, promising a blend of classic charm and futuristic appeal that is set to captivate audiences of all ages.

At a glittering event titled “A Season of Mistakes and Acceptance,” held on May 6 at the SAAC stage, the theatre committee revealed the three carefully selected titles that will grace the stage in the coming months. Rhett Davis, chair of the theatre committee, expressed enthusiasm for the chosen plays and their thematic resonance with the human experience.

“The play reading committee had their work cut out for them as they looked at over 150 different play options. We knew we wanted to throw things back a little with one of the choices while punching into the future with the other two picks – a little past mixed with a little future,” said Davis. “The shows are a lot of fun, and I think audiences will be delighted by the three selections. The stories are all about overcoming mistakes and finding acceptance in either admitting wrongdoings or pushing forward to finding a better solution.”

The theatrical journey begins with Charles Dickens’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol, scheduled for performances on December 3-4 and 6-8, 2024. Audiences can expect to be transported to the heartwarming tale of redemption and the spirit of the holiday season.

Following this festive delight, SAAC will present The Play That Goes Wrong from April 4-6 and 10-12, 2025, promising side-splitting laughter as the cast navigates a comedy of errors with uproarious consequences.

Rounding off the season with a burst of energy and musical splendor is Hairspray: The Broadway Musical, scheduled for July 10-13 and 17-20, 2025. This high-energy production promises to dazzle with its infectious music, dynamic choreography, and powerful message of inclusion and empowerment.

The SAAC’s 2024-2025 theatrical lineup invites audiences to embark on a journey of laughter, reflection, and celebration, promising an unforgettable experience that celebrates the magic of live theatre.
