Carroll Edward Sharp, 1927-2024

Warren, AR – Submariner, educator, tomato farmer, husband, father and friend, Carroll Edward Sharp, died May 30, 2024 at the age of 96. Born August 13, 1927 in Vick, Arkansas to William and Irene Wolfe Sharp, Carroll left home at age 17 to join the Navy during WWII. He served in the Navy for 20 years, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served on the Alabama, Florican and Char where he perfected his recipe for 12 dozen donuts, much to the delight of neighborhood children in San Diego, CA.

Following his naval career he became an educator after graduating from San Diego State University in 1968. He taught social studies and home economics at Taft Junior High in San Diego then elementary education at Banks and Warren School districts. Carroll returned to Bradley County to be near family in 1976. He spent his summers raising Bradley County tomatoes for the local markets. 

Carroll’s passion was world travel and geography. He often vacationed in Europe taking his young daughter on their travels while his older children got into mischief at home while he was away. 

He leaves behind his wife of 6 years, Betty Louise Sharp, children, Dennis Sharp, Faye Sharp, Lee Wilson, 2 grandchildren, 5 stepchildren and their families. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Annie Mae Sharp, his wife of 63 years, Patricia Jacobsen Sharp, his wife of 2 years Lois Cooks Sharp, brothers Kenneth and Bodie Sharp, sisters Willie Mae Thornton and Eva Ruth Ferrell.

Carroll loved and cared for his family and will be remembered for his support and kindness throughout his life.
