County Urges Residents to Secure Loads When Transporting Trash

In a recent announcement on their official Facebook page, the Bradley County Courthouse has issued a crucial reminder to residents regarding the proper transport of waste to the landfill. The message highlights a growing concern over the increasing amount of trash falling off vehicles and littering local highways and county roads.

The post reads: “If you are taking items to the landfill please cover your load with something, too much trash is getting on the Hwy and Bradley 25 N. It is falling off the trucks and trailers and no one is stopping to pick their trash up. So cover your loads of trash so it can’t fall out on to the roads.”

This request from county officials comes in response to a notable rise in roadside litter, particularly along Highway 25 North. Loose debris from improperly secured loads poses not only an environmental hazard but also a safety risk for other drivers. The issue has prompted the county to remind residents of their responsibility to ensure their trash is adequately covered and secured during transport.

Local authorities emphasize that simple measures such as using tarps, nets, or ropes to cover loads can significantly reduce the amount of litter scattered across the roads. Additionally, taking the time to double-check that loads are properly secured before starting a trip can prevent these issues.

Residents are encouraged to take these precautions seriously and contribute to the overall well-being of the area by preventing litter from becoming an unintended consequence of waste disposal.
