Are you interested in gardening?  Do you think you have a brown thumb?  Drew County Master Gardeners are hosting a meet and greet to highlight some easy gardening ideas Saturday, August 3, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce on Gaines Street. Watch demonstrations and learn to make a container garden, tips for butterfly/pollinator gardening, and vegetables in the landscape, free seeds from Master Gardener projects, and door prizes!

Would you like to be a member of a group that is passionate about gardening and learning about plants and different gardening techniques?  Drew County Master Gardeners are recruiting!

Drew County Master Gardeners organized in 2017 as on offshoot of Master Gardeners of the Delta.  About 30 members work on community projects such as pruning roses at the Drew County Courthouse and Monticello Square, Drew County Museum, Drew Central’s Lil’ Mates’ Garden, the Drew County Fair, Warren Prairie, and pollinator projects at the Monticello Sports Complex, and the Monticello Library to help beautify Monticello and Drew County.  All project work is done by volunteers with over 400 hours donated in 2023.  The projects are supported each year by membership dues, donations, grants, and the annual Master Gardener Plant Sale.

If you are interested in becoming a Master Gardener and are unable to attend the reception, contact County Extension Agent Scott Hayes at 870-367-6270 or [email protected]. for an application.
